Back in the day, when I began my obsession with beauty and fashion, I read Seventeen Magazine. It was my bible. I remember reading an article quoting Super Models giving beauty advice. One thing I read stuck with me. Never go to bed with your makeup on because it’s really fucking bad for your skin. I have tried to have my head hit my pillow every night sans makeup since then, not always succeeding in the routine due to Jesus juice and late nights but its always in the back of my mind. Here is a reason why it is so important to wash that makeup off your face. Free Radicals attack your ass while you are sleeping. Raise your hand if you know what free radicals are. Crickets. Crickets. I’ve got a classroom full of dumb dumbs up in here. Read this and educate yourselves. When I was in the cosmetic industry I had a chance to work with a kick ass skincare line. One thing the company believed and strived to instill in their clients… take care of your skin while you sleep because it is being attacked and you can do something about it. Be proactive and shit. In order to protect your skin from free radicals it is essential to cleanse your face to prepare your skin for your nighttime skin care regimen.
There are two cleansing products I use and neither one of them involve soapy suds. Ponds Cold Cream is primarily made up of mineral oil and beeswax. What’s so awesome about that? Dude. You cleanse your face and moisturize at the same time. Yep. Cool, right? Hold up. Who cleanses their face with organic grape water and chamomile? I do. I use that too. All rise! Meet Caudalie’s Cleansing Water. I love this gentle giant. Natural fragrance made up of oranges, mint, lemon blossom and watermelon on a cotton pad? Yes, please! She cleanses and moisturizes all while smelling like a lovely summer afternoon.
Above is a picture of moi wearing my average, everyday face of makeup. Bedtime is approaching so it’s time for me to wash this shit off my face!
The first thing I do is pull my hair up and grab grandma’s Cold Cream. I smear that shit all over my face. For the sake of a decent picture while wearing cold cream, I snapped the pic before I smeared it over my eye makeup.
Use a wet washcloth to gently remove cleanser and makeup.
Take a brief moment to get over what you look like without makeup.
This cleansing regimen works beautifully for me. In my opinion, these products are brilliant because they remove everything that need and should be removed all while leaving the essential natural elements within my skin to aid in my benefit. You do not need to strip your skin to properly cleanse your faces, bitches. After I cleanse my skin at night, I proceed with my nighttime skin care regimen (Hold your horses, ladies! I will fill you in on that shit another day!). Until then, have a try at this. I do not disappoint.

PS: In the morning, I shower and wash everything but my face. After showering, I grab my cleansing water on a cotton pad and gently cleanse my face before applying my daytime skincare.
Your faces speak the truth, unless your botox is doing the talking.
Then your face is a fucking liar.
Either way, cleanse that shit, girl! xo
