Ciao, TSPeepers! I decided to do a full face on the blog today to show you something sexy and festive for the month of love. If you are one of those chicks who doesn’t know an eyeshadow pallet from your daughter Lucy’s watercolor set, have no fear! Sister No. 2 , Nicole is here! This may be advanced for some of you however there are several basic tips you can take away from this look. I start by showing you a picture of what I look like after completing just one eye. This is cool to see for several reasons.
Lesson No.1: Eyebrows are major and must be filled. There is no question about it. Also, did someone start a rumor about liner on the bottom lash line making the eyes look smaller? Um. I don’t seem to have that problem. Do you all notice how much wider and brighter my finished eye looks? (It may also have something to do with the fact that Rodney Dangerfield might be my dad) You all remember my mascara 101 blog? Curling your lashes opens up the eye and lengthens the appearance of your lashes. It also makes them look fuller… throw some mascara on those bitches and POW! BOOMchicalacca! I also smeared on a little rouge to show you just how crucial that shit is as well! Oh, hello cheekbones. I didn’t notice you until I put you there! BAM!
Let’s finish up making me look pretty. First, I prime my eyelid. I used Mac’s paint pot in painterly and applied it to the entire lid with my fingertip. This is on my Beauty Basic Must Haves List because it is super awesome. For the pigment, I used one of my favorite pallets, Urban Decays Naked 2, which I wrote about here. I know many of you have purchased her so here is a look you can replicate and it also gives you a chance to see just how versatile this palette is.
Let me start with a lecture. Listen to mama. Blend your fucking eyeshadow. After every step. This is mucho important, people. If you don’t believe me, don’t blend your shit and head on out! Go on! Town asshole award is all yours. Ok, so I start by applying suspect to my lower lid and foxy to my upper lid. The lid is a canvas. You can build and build and layer all you want. In my crease I used a couple different shadows. Pistol and Busted, mostly. It is important to try new things and play with color combinations when you have a palette like this. All of these colors play nicely together but certain colors go in certain places. Live and learn, ladies.
Next I used some Blackout and Busted to achieve a dramatic, evening look. Make sure to start with a little and go from there. You are able to control the intensity this way. After I completed this step (and every step preceding it) I BLENDED my shadow with my favorite blending brush. Read and learn bitches.
Once my shadow is blended it is time to work on the liner. Here, I used one of my all-time favorite products by Laura Mercier. The Caviar Stick in Smoke (I have it in several colors and love them all just the same). Everyone, it’s that time again. Stand up! Don’t be shy, now! Rise! And raise your hands to Jesus because this right here is a miraculous cosmetic! I am not getting into the bizillion and 1 reasons why you should have this in your makeup arsenal. I will save all of that good stuff for a separate blog dedicated to The Caviar Stick herself. I simply applied the product using the stick itself to my upper lash line. With my fingertip, I softly blended and smudged the line just right so it is not defined. This process adds depth and dimension to the look. It’s like a solid bleached blond. Yeah, she is a blond and she looks alright but something is missing. Add some lowlights, or a base bump and Voila. So much better.
Once I am happy with that application, I grab one of my favorite brushes, the smudge brush which I showcased here, and put some smoke on that bitch to hit up the lower lash line. This product is heavily pigmented, a little goes a long way. Start with a little and build on it from there.
Makeup Forever’s Liquid Eyeliner is my next accomplice. This product is precise as hell due to its perfect spongey applicator. Oh, and she also takes her job very seriously. Originally developed for France’s Aquatic Ballet means this shit ain’t going anywhere, anytime soon, so don’t get all crazy until you are confident and know what you are doing. I applied a very thin, precise line onto my upper lash line just to give my lashes a thicker, denser appearance. Black liner defines the eye and really makes them pop! FYI- never use this product on the lower lash line. In fact, liquid liner should never be applied to the lower lash line unless, of course, you want to look like a fucking moron.
Eyebrows were my next victim. I used Anastasia brow pomade to fill and shape the brow. This product is for the makeup savvy, in my opinion. Anastasia’s Brow Wiz is an incredible brow pencil, perfect for everyone, especially you broads who are just getting into the swing of filling the eyebrow thing. Brow tutorial to come! Until then, do something with those things, ok? Shape them, fill them, tame them, trim them… You know the drill. In fact, if you are a local (near Oak Brook, Il, just west of Chicago), go visit my talented friend Sneha at Neel Thredz at Oak Brook Center. She will most likely thread your mustache and your beard. Facial hair is not cool. On chicks. Tell her Large Marge sent you!
Next comes Anastasia’s Brow Duality Pencil. This thing rocks my fancy little world. It has been repackaged since I bought mine so it looks a little different now. I use the matte side under my brow to highlight a bit. The other shimmering side I use in the corner of my eyes to brighten them up.
The eyes are done, now. Next I applied Laura Merciers Tinted Moisturizer to my face and then my concealer. I use Amazing concealer in Fair under my eyes. You best know I grabbed the baddest bitch in town to help me with the job! Beauty Blender done did it again.
After that is all blended in and beauteous, Nars Illuminating Powder went on and a little Narz Laguna Bronzer, too, just to add some life to this face.
The lip is the last thing I do when I get all gussied up. I chose to do something sweet and sexy. In my pretty little world that means pink! I grabbed Mac lip glass in Pink Nouveau and lined my kisser with my longtime love YSL #13.
And there you have it. My naked face is dressed and ready to go out and turn some heads! This whole look took me about 30 minutes to complete. I don’t have the time to do this everyday and nor do I want to. This is special occasion makeup for me, but if I say it once and I will say it again. Take time for yourself ladies, to look and feel beautiful. I believe it is SUPER friggin important. When you look good, you feel good and quite honestly, ain’t no one going to do you looking like that!
Put on some lipstick and make today your bitch! Sister No. 2 loves you! xoxo
