Spring has frigging sprung!!! Similar to how Chicago transitions from season to season so does my attire. It is not at all unusual to see a girl walking around in flip flops and shorts on any first sign of spring. It’s a little over zealous in my opinion, but to each their own. Personally, I like to bring in spring bit by bit, just like how spring likes to come to Chicago, a little bit at a time. With that said, the sun is shinning, there’s no need for a parka or boots and it’s beautiful enough to enjoy the day outdoors sipping white vino and enjoying some people watching. However, there’s still a chill in the air. So what’s a girl to do with the combination of sun rays and a Chicago chill? Throw on some open toe shoes, a super light sweater and cover yo damn face with a transitional sun hat. It’s way to early for my straw hat but if I’m going to be sipping under the sun I still need to shield my face from my ex friend, UV. Back in the day I was a professional sun tanner. Laying in the sun with a Corona and cigarette (this month marks three years smoke free!) and tons of oil lathered all over my face and body is my favorite past time. Well, I’m 32 now and those days are dead my friends. I’ll sneak some sun here and there and when unavoidable, but no more baking away for this chick.
I found this adorable hat at Forever 21 and it’s perfect for this time of year and for fall as well. It’s a thick felt like fabric so it can be worn thru most of March and probably all of April until my lighter summer hats want to come out and play. This hat will also be a perfect travel hat for when my hair is crazy and we need to bust a move to get to our next spot with no time for a blow out.
My best friend/soul mate, Deanna, sent me this lipstick from Australia. It from Napoleon Perdis. The color is Ava, however, I also applied a layer of their white lipstick over the pink which softened it up a bit for me. They have both black and white for you to darken or brighten the lipsticks you already have and they frigging rock! You can also get Khloe Kardashian with it and pop on some black lips. I WILL be doing that one day.
This necklace means so much to me. I bought this piece in Tulum when we decided to get married in Mexico. It was made by an artist in Guadalajara and totally brings me back to such a special time in our lives. I’m in love with it. It’s my little Mexican heart.
Happy Spring TSPeeps! Don’t forget to cover that gorgeous face of yours! XO
