If you follow posts on my personal Facebook page, you will definitely recognize this name. Winnie Lee. She is my friend. She is my sisters’ friend. For good reason, too. The bitch is funny. And not just normal everyday funny. She is “piss your pants, shut up there is no way that happened and she will prove it to you” funny all while not laughing once in her delivery. That will make you laugh even harder because usually, when she is telling you something really funny, it is something that has pissed her off and the shit that pisses Winnie Lee off is really fucking funny. Like her ex boyfriend. Who she broke up with, because they only ate tacos. (among other reasons I think). She literally snarled telling us about the tacos. She. Was. Pissed. And Lauren almost fell off her bar stool with laughter. Winnie didn’t as much as blink an eye. Now onto why Winnie Lee is guest beauty blogging for TSP. She is obsessed with beauty. Homegirl loves products. LOVES. Winnie and I have very different taste in product and beauty essentials. We both whistle dixie walking into Sephora darting in different directions both for things neither one of us would buy for the other. I love color and makeup artistry. She loves necessary, practical beauty products. Products every girl would love and need to know about. She is simple in her vanity and when I say vanity, I mean vanity. She loves looking beautiful. And don’t mistake simple for cheap shit. This broad knows products. She shares another beauty obsession with me. Product packaging. We will literally boycott a favorite product if we hate the packing, not buy a product because the packaging is ugly, and buy some products just because they look pretty. We judge books by their fucking covers. Shoot us. Ok. Ok. Enough about us. Here, are Winnie’s Must Haves.
I’m honored I’ve been asked to guest blog for TSP. I’ve known these ladies for just about ten years now (holy shit) and they are as lovely as they are disgusting and hilarious. A little back story on me, born and raised in Chicago, grew up a total tomboy (Chinese Rosie O’Donnell), discovered make up and push up/plunge bras in college and never looked back. I love make up and skin care products (Michelle can attest that half my paychecks used to go to Sephora), get no-chip manicures on the regular, and I’m always looking for dependable, easy to use products.
Here’s what I love:
Moroccanoil Treatment – I use one pump of this while my hair is still damp, massage into the ends and work my way up before blow drying. This stuff makes my hair super shiny and silky and really helps combat the elements year round.
Cure Natural Aqua Gel – Love. This is my favorite exfoliant. I use my Clarisonic daily, but once a week I use this to slough off all the junk that accumulates. There aren’t any rough granules and this isn’t abrasive at all. You just put some on your face after cleaning and drying and then wait a minute. Once you rub your face lightly in circles you’ll feel beads of your own dead skin coming off. It’s completely gross and gratifying. After you rinse all the shit off you’re left with soft smooth skin. Bonus tip, once in a long while you’ll have a date that you want to go that extra step for… use said exfoliant on your décolletage. Fun bags indeed.
Benefit Gimme Brow – I am not a hirsute woman. The worst evidence of this can be seen on my eyebrows. I’m also more than a little weirded out by super bold inch-thick brows I see some women sporting. This is stupid easy to use, takes only a couple of seconds, and probably keeps people from wondering if I have alopecia.
Revlon Colorstay Eye Liner – It’s cheap, you can find it anywhere, and it STAYS. This eyeliner has made it through a beach wedding in Puerto Rico where bawling was involved, mouth breathingly humid days in Singapore, and 90 minute workouts without a problem.
Shiseido Pureness Oil-Control Blotting Paper – Accept no substitutes. I have the oiliest skin known to man and I’ve tried them all. I won’t leave home without them. When Nordstrom has their annual employee discount sale, I’ve been known to stock up and buy twelve of these for the year.
Sugar Lip Treatment – I hate having crusty lips. I also hate how sticky most lip glosses tend to be but still want a wash of color. These highly moisturizing tinted lip balms have been a very good compromise for me. My lips feel great and I love the pop of color to brighten my face.
Pictured above are four of the products Winnie wrote about. I made her bring some of her faves when we met up the other day and she had these cool ass eye drops in her purse. They are her favorite. She says they are cooling and she loves the packaging. As do I! Rohto Cool Max Eye Drops. I will be getting these for sure! I always have red eyes and I hate it.
Now go on and get yourself real purty. You are worth it.
