I love simple pleasures. I have many of them. Every hour of my day consists of sweet little pleasurable things that make me smile simply because they are simply pleasurable to me. To me, simple pleasures are little things that make me feel warm and fuzzy inside. These things are different than luxuries. Luxuries cost something, like diamonds. I think they are sweet even when they are little. They make me feel warm and fuzzy inside. However, they are not a simple pleasure. I am not a simple girl, I admit that, but I do find pleasure in the simple things in life. Here are some of my most favorite simple pleasures and luxurious necessities: The Bed and Bath Edition.
The smell of Chanel No.5 on my pillows
I could talk about this shit for days. I love fine fragrance and more than that I love a fine fragrance with a history. Coco’s creation has had me wrapped around her finger for years. I don’t wear her everyday. In fact, I don’t wear her during the day at all. No.5 is what I wear when I go to bed. Marilyn Monroe and I have that in common. Well, that and our man troubles. I don’t wear her every night but when I do, I apply the tiniest bit. I spray her softly in the air and step into it quickly retaining just enough of the powdery, floral scent to linger on my crisp white pillow cases all night long. This makes me feel simply sexy.
The most bubbly, bubbling bath
I am a bather. Bubble baths are my most cherished simple pleasure. There is nothing better and more pleasurable than a fresh, warm, bubbling bath after a bitch of a day. My most favorite bubble bath is Aura Cacia’s Tranquil Chamomile Bubble Bath. This stuff has the most relaxing, soothing scent. Imagine combining your most favorite spa smell and most relaxing spa experience into a bottle and voila! Tranquil Chamomile is what you get. It also produces the best bubbles in town. All bubble are NOT created equally. These are dense and lasting. The only way a bubble bath should be. The relaxing aroma lasts in the air long after the bubbles go down the drain. God is Love. Rev Run (Get it? If you do, I effing love you)
The Soft, luxurious scent of white tea in my hair
This simple pleasure is an all time fave of mine. If you have been following my posts, you will recognize Shu Uemura’s Polishing Milk because I have a slight obsession with it and for good reason. I don’t wash my hair everyday and when I do, I don’t wash it at night. However, I love putting a couple of pumps of this luxurious leave in conditioner on my dry ends before retiring to my bed. It soothes and softens my tired hair all while leaving my olfactory system going wild! The smell needs to be captured and put into a perfume bottle! It is simply perfect. Check this out, too!
Fresh flowers on my vanity
I receive a beautiful vase of fresh flowers every single week. I am spoiled and I won’t have it any other way because I am spoiled by myself! Having fresh flowers in my bedroom is a consistent simple pleasure of mine. It is a necessary luxury in my pretty little world. I don’t go a night without admiring fresh flowers beautifully lit by candlelight on my vanity. They make me feel beautiful and loved. Two things I love feeling.
Little pink shimmering kisses
Having soft, kissable lips is a necessity in my world. Having soft, kissable lips moisturized with shimmering pink lip balm is a simple pleasure of mine! I love smearing this soft, luxurious lip all over my kisser after moisturizing my skin. It adds just a little shimmer, enough to make me feel beautiful and when I look good, I feel good. It’s as simple as that.
Soft, glowing skin
I love body oils. LOVE. I fucking love body oils that aren’t just body oils but body, face, and hair oils. My simple pleasure? Massaging this luxurious oil on my décolletage before getting into bed. Knowing I am being proactive and avoiding the dreaded cleavage wrinkle simply helps me sleep better. Caudalie makes me smile.
Drinking wine out of crystal
Crystal. It gives me butterflies. When I enjoy an occasional glass of wine during or after my bubble bath, I enjoy my wine in crystal. Why? Because I can and because I like fancy shit. Fancy shit is the best shit and why wait until a dinner party to bust it out when you can bust it out on a Tuesday night for pleasure seeking purposes? Cheers!
The fresh smell of Gardenias
When I am feeling like I need a full body treatment I reach for my favorite body butter. This simple pleasure changes the mood me and my skin are in. The fresh smell of gardenia’s meets the musky smell of vanilla creating something very, very special. And the luxurious gold packaging tickles my fancy. Another simple pleasure? Walking out of Henri Bendel with a little luxury inside that pretty little bag.
A nostalgia provoking candle
This one right here is a true simple pleasure of mine. I have a nostalgic connection to it and it makes me smile softly when I catch a whiff of it. For just a few bucks I get to smile and enjoy the smell of memories and whispers. Love.
The sound of french whimsy
The sound of classic french music makes my list of simple pleasures. For years, I have been listening to The Amelie soundtrack by Yann Tiersen while soaking in the bath. There is something about it that makes me relax and feel elegant . I simply enjoy the sounds of french wonder and romance while doing some late night writing, too. It inspires me!
A mug full of love
My most recent simple pleasure is not the mug but what’s inside of it. Golden Milk. I have been enjoying this concoction for a week now and it is a simple necessity. It provides sweet pleasure knowing what it is doing for me (the benefits are mind blowing). I love enjoying a delicious warm mug full just before bed.
Seek some pleasure, sisters! It is simply necessary!
