I think it’s very easy to get stuck in a whirlwind of negativity, fearing the worst, worried about stuff that hasn’t happened and may not ever happen. Our minds have a very sneaky way of creating some crazy thoughts that can lead to anxiety, self doubt, fear and a number of other useless things. When this happens, I pluck myself and my mind out of this negative, catastrophic way of thinking and turn things around stat! In all honesty, it takes a lot of work and effort to keep things positive. Some days are easier than others, but I truly believe if you practice positive thinking daily, your life will be brighter and more receptive to the good things in life.
About this time last year, I found myself in a really funky funk and I had to dig deep and get my ass out of that awful way of feeling. I was suffering from major anxiety and it was bringing me way down. Since then, I have reenforced little rituals and habits that have helped me maintain a positive outlook on life. For me, meditation, daily reminders of gratitude, yoga, being present, eating well, living life to the fullest and just recently, gardening, totally play a role in helping me stay out of that ugly slump I was in. I basically paid a therapist to tell me, “Lauren, meditate.” It was the best money ever spent and I had the tools, I just needed to put them to better use. It’s all in your mind people, the power of positive thinking is where it’s at! Stop what you doing right now and think of three things your grateful for. Do it again tomorrow and the next day…keep it up and see the difference. xo
