What was it about the supermodels of the 90’s that took the fashion world by storm? Growing up I was obsessed with these beautiful creatures. Their looks were unlike any models before them and so it seems, after them as well. There was something so uniquely exotic and gorgeous about all of these women. And granted they were tall, had (and still have) incredible bodies and legs for days, they seemed more natural, still had curves and that very feminine appeal to them, a bit unlike the wave of heroin chic models that came soon after their reign. I remember being so enamored by the likes of Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista, Helena Christensen and Stephanie Seymour…just to name a few. Between George Michael’s Freedom video and Gianni Versace’s fashion campaigns these models were in every magazine, on every television and walking every catwalk, and rightfully so, they were dominating the industry. Basically, even though 90’s fashion was pretty questionable at times, at least there were gorgeous humans parading around in those crazy ass ensembles making them look incredible. Here’s a look at some of the most iconic supermodels of all time.
Cindy Crawford. The supermodel turns 50 next year and to mark this beautiful occasion she is releasing her new book, Becoming, which I cannot wait to see and own! However, as a teen, this book was my everything!
Helena Christensen. She was stunning in Chris Issac’s Wicked Games…LOVE this sexy song.
Linda Evangelista (one of my all time favs). Who can forget when she once infamously said, “we don’t wake up for less than $10,000 a day”…ugh, I wish!
Christy Turlington. Check out her non for profit organization, Every Mother Counts. It’s mission is dedicated to making pregnancy and childbirth safe for every mother everywhere.
Stephanie Seymour. Ex wife of Axel Rose and bride in the most amazing music video and song, Guns and Roses’ November Rain. You’re welcome.
Naomi Campbell. This long legged beauty will be starring in her very own reality show, “I AM NAOMI”. Notoriously known for being a little demanding and also hilarious, I am excited to see her in action.
Speaking of beauty, a good friend of mine has the most fabulous boutique spa in Chicago called Buff Beauty. I love so many things about BB. The girls in charge, Suzi and Betsy, are hilarious, beyond talented and gorgeous! From their facials to their eyebrow shaping, they’re services are incredible and so are their products. There is something else I am totally drawn to at Buff Beauty and that is the entrance and foyer of the spa. They came up with the brilliant idea to take black and white photos of supermodels and actresses and use them as wallpaper in the hallway leading into the spa. Not only is that a frigging genius idea, it completely captures and inspires you as you walk in. Check this out!
I mean, how frigging fabulous is this entire creation? From the furry pillows, to the wallpaper to the stunning chandelier….swoon!!! Check out my girls at Buff Beauty and don’t forget to grab a York peppermint patty on your way out!
LOVE IT. LIVE IT. SHARE IT.
