Surround yourself with positive people. Happy, positive minded people are like a drug. They make you feel good. Who wouldn’t want to be around that?
Do something you are passionate about. For me, it is this blog. I believe whole heartedly the passion you feel when you do something you love negates any tendency to focus on the negative.
Stop worrying about the things you can’t control. Once you accept this notion, your life will change for the better. You can only control yourself and your own actions.
Set goals. No matter how big or small the goal, setting them is key. When you complete your goal the feeling of accomplishment is rewarding.
Laugh. Hard. Daily. No explanation needed. It just feels so damn good.
Fill that glass up. We all got shit. We all have things that can make us negative and grumpy. Turn that frown upside down and think about how your situation is positive and good instead of dwelling on the negative. I should admit. I have been a little bit of a Negative Nancy lately. My glass is starting to fill up, though, because I have the ability to change it and I have people in my life who kick my ass back to Happyland.
You are what you eat. Consuming healthy foods leads to a positive mindset. This leads to energy which leads to productivity which leads to you feeling really good when you check shit off your list.
When you look good you feel good. I feel like a broken record with this one but I will continue to repeat this over and over. Do your hair and makeup. Put on something cute just because. Get your nails did. Feeling pretty will change your mental state.
Be in the Now. Live in the moment and enjoy it! You will never get it back. You have no control over the past and cannot control the future. Worrying about what will happen/what has happened will keep you standing still. It will also cause major anxiety which keeps you very far from happiness.
Produce that Serotonin, sisters! Work out. This is the best medicine for naturally creating a happy mind. You want to be positive? It ain’t going to happen if you’re not making your physical health and being a priority. Go for a walk. Take a run. Hit one of Lauren’s Yoga classes. Just do something and I promise today will be positively awesome.
Adios, Anger. Let go of your anger. It is difficult to let go of this sometimes and anger is relative. We are all different and different things affect us in different ways. Regardless, that shit will straight up ruin your life if it doesn’t kill you first. Toxic energy, it is, and what you put out is what you bring in. “Holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.” Buddha knows what he’s talking about.
Chat with strangers. Ok, not total strangers, but engage in friendly conversation with the store clerk, the barista or even a neighbor you don’t talk to often. Little convos can change the day.
Get down with nature. Take a walk, sit by a pond or lake, lay out in the park. Take time out of the day to engage with mother nature and all that good stuff. #treehugger
Show gratitude. This technique has been a game changer for me. Every morning I wake up and think of three things I am grateful for. Perhaps running water, a warm bed, a forever roommate that makes me laugh. Anything goes. It’ll make your day much more positive.
1-800-CALL-A-FRIEND. Life gets so busy, it’s easy to go two weeks or even a month with out chatting to some of your closest buds. Pick up your phone and call them or Face Time them. Life is too short to not nurture the important relationships in our lives.
Shake It Off. Start your day by blaring this in your car on the way to work and dance it off. Shake off all the Negative Nancy feelings away!
Love it. Live it. Share it.
