Making a statement with makeup/accessories is kind of a thing these days in the fashion industry. Makeup trends are so tugging at my heartstrings. There is definitely some 90’s influence in makeup which makes me freak out because I am a 90’s girl. I fell in love with makeup in the 90’s so I am feeling connected. Along with cosmetics there are a couple of other trends I am loving that make a pretty solid statement. Making statements with jewelry and footwear are going to be my thing this season and I have a feeling you are going to dig these simple ways of making huge ass statements. Basically, if you want to look like you know what’s going on out there in the world of beauty/fashion just copy off of me because I basically just copied off of these broads.
The Statement Lip
The 90’s show themselves on lips this fall. Dark ass lips are so super in and I love this trend probably too much. Dark lips are sexy and hard core. I mean, I wouldn’t necessarily wear them to your conservative office job if the lip you opt for is crazy dark but you should def throw that tube of dark lip in your purse for drinks after work. If going super dark on the lip makes your butt hurt try something a little less intense like a berry hue or a gorgeous wine inspired lip (Check out these!). And something that looks super hot with your trendy lip? A metallic wash over your lids (check out the pic below. Jazzy, right? Oh and click here to check out this product and some other cool ass shit you need). Just make sure to take it easy on the eyeliner when you do up the lip super dark. Pick one or the other, ok?

The Statement Eye

Oh, eyeliner. Welcome back, girl! And I am not talking about the super prefect winged liner that no one other than an experienced makeup artists can do. I am talking black pencil applied thick and dark as hell. Top and bottom lash lines and waterlines are blacked out and bad ass. You can smudge it, too, if you want. Whatever you do just make sure you totally over do it with the eyeliner once in a while because this thick black stuff will make your eyes POP!
The Statement Earring

This one right here has me whistling dixie. Just ask my friends. Big earrings are my thing and with last years minimalistic trend tickling my fancy for so long I am super excited to bust out some statement earrings. Amal Clooney recently wore a gorgeous gold dress with earrings dangling down to her nips. It was a super hot look and let’s just face it.. Amal is a fashion icon (already). Let’s follow her lead, shall we? I think every girl can have fun with this trend. You don’t have to wear something as major as my statement piece to play along. Just wear something bigger than you normally would or something a little out of your comfort zone. Here’s the cool thing about fashion… you can frigging take it off if you aren’t feeling it but def don’t knock it or dismiss it until you try it. Statement earrings are frigging fun.
The Statement Boot
Shown Above: Rebecca Minkoff Biker Boot (I linked a similar super cool pair)
Biker boots and combat boots are another trend reminiscent of the 90’s that are taking fall 2015 by storm. Anyone remember Clueless? Cher wore the coolest black combat boots with cute little plaid, pleated skirts from Contempo Casuals. I so wanted to be her. Anywho, making a statement from the knees down is kind of a fun and easy way to turn your typical everyday ensemble into something cool and chic. My Rebecca Minkoff biker boots are my perfect statement boot. They are sophisticated and structured with a few simple buckles. I do love a clunky ass boot but I opted for something a little more polished this time around so I can easily go from day to night if I so desire.
Fashion and beauty is all about having fun and expressing yourself. There are no rules. Use trends and blog posts like this as guidelines for creating your look and expressing your personal style. Let all of these things inspire you. Step out of your comfort zone and try making a statement this fall with some of these current trends. Grab some killer skinnies and buy yourself those biker boots you have been thinking about. While you’re shopping make sure to stock up on a few cool hues for that pretty face of yours. When you look good, you feel good and you deserve to feel really frigging good. xoxo
Love it. Live it. Share it.
