I got to see one of my favorite artists last week. You may have heard of her. Adele. I love her. One of my oldest and dearest got a pair of tickets for her birthday and I was the lucky bitch who got to accompany her to the show. I have seen a few concerts over the years. This one was by far my favorite and it had a lot to do with her music, and even more to do with the beautiful, inspiring, hilarious, real person Adele is. Only 28 years young but it is as though she has already lived a lifetime. She is as witty as she is beautiful and even though the world is all very well aware of how talented she is, hearing her pour her heart out in person was an experience I will surely never forget. I love her. No. I really do. However, reviewing her show is not the purpose for this post. Adele is simply the source of inspiration behind it.
During her encore, the entire stadium rained confetti. I don’t know what it is about millions of bits of paper falling down all around you. Goosebumps and tears. That’s what was going on in my world. After I stopped asking if this was for real, myself and 30,000 other people realized that the confetti had lyrics and lines written on them. The first one I grabbed said, “throw your soul through every open door.” The words stopped me and I found myself very much caught in the moment. I was moved. And then I was thankful. But mostly, I was inspired.
I believe that in life we have choices and choices lead to opportunity. I believe that when a door closes another always opens. But it is us that has to make the choice whether we are going to walk through that door. I believe that when the door opens it is the universe’s way of saying this is it. Here is your shot. What are you going to do with it? But walking through the door is only half of it. If you want something. If you feel like you are being called to do something. If there is a piece of you that yearns for something, by God, make it known and acknowledge it. Because I know for a fact, the moment you acknowledge your wants and desires, that door is going to open and when it does, you don’t walk. You run. “Throw your soul through every open door.” ~ Adele
Thank you Col and Brian. I love you both and will NEVER forget our night with Adele.
Love it. Live it. Share it.
