My travel bug and sense of wanderlust is in full effect right now. I’m not exactly sure why, but I literally have butterflies in my stomach thinking about all the places I want to travel to. I honestly think about traveling every single day. Ever since I can remember, I have loved every detail of going on domestic and worldly adventures. From packing and taking off my shoes for security to exploring new lands, I absolutely live for travel. If I could have one wish in life besides world peace, cures for dumb diseases like dementia, a decent president for our country and good health for my family and friends, I could honestly say, it would be to travel and write. That is hands down, my dream job. You know how sometimes people love to hate when people post photos of their vacations on Facebook? I love nothing more! If you post an entire album dedicated to your most recent trip, chances are I am going to check out every single photo. I want to know what you ate, where you went, where you stayed, what you saw, and who you met. I want to know every detail…I’m totally a creepy stalker when it comes to your travels. Happy to admit it. Lately, I have been sorting out my travel wish list just for shits and giggles. I have been to some pretty incredible places on this planet, some of which were on my wish list. Places like White Haven Beach in Australia, anywhere in Italy is magical so that’s a given, and one of my absolutely favorite places on this planet – Tasmania. I want to go back there so bad and explore more! In the meantime, I can day dream about traveling and maybe, just maybe one day I will be paid to get on a plane, explore a new land and come back with a full report of my adventures. And perhaps they’ll send me to one of the places on my travel wish list below. Here’s hoping!
If you need to know just one thing about me, it’s that I love vampires. Truly. Bats too. My favorite book is based on the most popular vamp of all time. I’m a total fang banger. I’m thinking only True Blood fans will get that phrase, but you can understand the gist of it I’m sure. This here is Bran Castle. According to word on the street, this castle is loosely tied to the legend of Dracula aka Vlad The Impaler. So basically that alone makes me want to pack my bags immediately, throw on some garlic and explore this presumably haunted old ass home…which is now a museum. This is an area of the world I have not yet been, but something about the vibes and cultures I have yet to experience have me yearning to get there one day soon. It looks exceptionally beautiful in a very spooky, blood sucking way.
The Maldives has been an OG on my list since day one. When I first saw a photo of this magical, oceanic paradise I knew I belonged there. A lot of people report back saying that there isn’t much to do. Ummm, obviously. You’re in the middle of the GD ocean. I would pack my yoga mat, a bikini and cover up, five books and would chill in crystal blue water for at least a week straight. Living in a hut just above the water able to see wildlife swim and pass below is something I can barely wrap my head around. Living in such a busy, concrete city, this is pretty much the exact opposite of what my city life is. One hundred percent this location is on my bucket list of places to experience in my lifetime. All my mermaid dreams would come true!
Ever since I read Bill Bryson’s journey to see the Northern Lights in Norway in his book, Neither Here, Nor There, I have been dying to experience this natural phenomenon. The way he writes about his journey there and all the mishaps that happened is absolutely hysterical. Norway looks cold as hell, but I am down to brave the freezing temps to experience this green brilliance in the sky. The fishing village of Reine also looks breathtaking. We have yet to hit up a Scandinavian country and wouldn’t mind Norway being the first. There are so many countries nearby I’d love to hit up along the way…Sweden, Finland and Iceland to name a few!
More and more people are coming back raving about the beautiful islands of Greece, which has me wanting to go more than ever. Of all the details people come back with, it’s the food and wine that have me dying to get there. In my mind, I have imaginations of a fresh fish brought into the local fishing port by bunch of cute little fishermen and having it arrive on my plate in its entirety covered in lemon, olive oil and fresh herbs. Oh and throw in a glass of Greek white wine to top it off. Is that too much to ask? Oh and in this day dream, this is all happening while sitting across from The Mister Project at that little table in the photo. Done and done.
Japan has been on my travel wish list for ages. The beauty of this country and it’s culture is something I am so eager to experience and see. I have long been fascinated by the architecture of Japan and since Kyoto is known to have almost 2,ooo temples, it seems like the right place to visit. The city also has a couple major festivals throughout the year which is celebrated with massively vibrant parades. So pretty much an explosion of culture in the streets! Being a lover of sushi, I can’t imagine there would be a better place in the world to enjoy a sushi dinner than in the place it all started. Tokyo for sure would happen on this trip as well.
The Wave, Arizona
How can you look at this photo and not want to see this in person? I would freak out upon arrival, no doubt. The juxtaposition of colors between the land and sky are one of the most magnificent sights I’ve ever dreamed of seeing. Apparently it is hard as hell to reach The Wave, but this is a sight and hike I would prep for in hopes to reaching it. It looks too beautiful to pass up. Since it is located so close to Utah, it’d be wise to hit up some national parks and landmarks there as well, which I have never been to, but have heard it is geographically astounding!
Cinque Terre, Italy
I think it’s safe to say that some city or town in Italy will always be on my travel list. As I check off one spot, a new one will surely take it’s place. Italy was the first place I traveled to without my family, with the exception of my little brother, and I fell absolutely in love with it. The food, the people, the wine, the fashion, the views, you name it, I love it. Italy has my heart and there will always be a little piece of me there that I keep going back to visit. Having been to several spots in Italy, Cinque Terre has now been added to my list. It’s the colors of this town that keep tugging at my travel bug heart strings.
Listen, if you tell me there’s an amazing Christkindle Market in Berwyn, it’s likely I’ll go and check it out. Ever since I started going to Chicago’s Christkindle Market I have fallen head over heels obsessed with them. I want to cozy up, grab a Bavarian pretzel and a big ass beer and I want to walk around the Salzburg market at Christmas time and basically just freak out all over the place. I want to taste, feel, hear and see every tradition and custom this market shares with its visitors. Plus, Sound of Music anyone?!? Sister Michelle would lose her shit in Salzburg!
Two words: Rosé and Lavender. I could totally end this discussion right then and there, but that would make me a lazy blogger. So allow me to add a few more: cheese, fashion, history, Parisian cuisines, nature, and more rosé. That is all. Merci.
Machu Picchu aka “Lost City of the Incans” is arguably one of the most majestic places on earth. Every time someone new posts a photo of their MP adventure I am wowed as if it were the first time I am seeing it. Plus, it looks like quite the hike so it only makes sense that it’s insanely breathtaking upon arrival. While I’m there I would love to meet some llamas and Peruvian people to learn more about their culture, lifestyle and cuisine. This would be a badass trip!
Ok TSPeeps, it’s your turn! Where have you been that I should add to the list and what’s on your travel wish list??? GO!
Love it. Live it. Share it.
