I have had just about enough of this summer bullshit. My mind is headed in one direction and that direction is FALL! I am somewhat obsessed with the latest style craze… the return of the 90’s and have quite a bit of stocking up to do to get my wardrobe just where it needs to be in order for it to be awesome. Now, I am not one of those broads who goes big or goes home when it comes to current trends. I like to be conservative when it comes to trendy pieces. I am 37 years old and have no business decking myself out like the 13 year old neighbor girl. I have talked about style and fashion a bit in the past and in my opinion… you do you, I do me. Style is what you make of it. Fashion is what you buy. Does this make sense? Ok, so I have been doing some online window shopping and boy oh boy have I added some really awesome shit to my carts. I need to perk up my everyday wardrobe so that is where I am focusing my attention this season.
Here are a couple of good tips when doing some serious wardrobe shopping.
- Go where your budget allows. Do not go shopping at Neimans when you can afford target. You are going to be DEPRESSED. Make the best of your budget.
- Shop online first and go into stores knowing what you are looking for. This makes the whole process of shopping easier and less stressful.
- When shopping online remember the bitches modeling the clothes you are loving are MODELS. Everything and anything will look good on them. Be aware of your shape and size. Once you know what looks good on you and what flatters your shape, shop accordingly.
Now, as I have gotten older I have gotten much more practical and wise when it comes to building my wardrobe. I believe in spending money on my staple pieces, classics if you will, and less money on trendy pieces. This technique has not done me wrong. You get what you pay for, people, so spend your money wisely. Of course, budget yourself accordingly, just make sure to buy quality staple pieces or be prepared to be pissed off when your shit falls apart faster than a whore drops her panties.
Ok, so onto the pieces I need in order to build my everyday wardrobe. I basically need everything, well in terms of staples that is. It has been quite a few years since I have replaced my main pieces. It’s time. Here are the things I need in order to have the wardrobe I want and in my opinion what everyone needs in order to have a killer look this season.
The Jacket. In my opinion one can never have too many jackets. I kind of love them. Here are a couple ideas of jackets missing from my wardrobe.
The Blazer. I need me a simple, slouchy, relaxed fit blazer that I can wear during the day but also transition into my night time wardrobe if need be. Something light that can be layered or worn simply. Something versatile.
The Jeans. I do not believe one pair will do. I need 3. Yep. I already have a good pair of flares. Now I just need a killer pair of comfy cozy stretchy ass skinny jeans in classic denim as well as a really dark jean. I am thinking black or dark ass charcoal. Oh, and I need a pair of distressed jeans with some holes in them that my dad will make really annoying comments about.
The Sweater. There are so many options out there that make my heart skip a beat but what I really want and need is a classic wrap sweater. Oh, and a classic ribbed off the shoulder. Once I have both of these I will be set becasue I have a few other great sweaters that will play well this season. However, I may have to add this cozy, oversized V neck knit sweater to the mix. She would get lots of use.
The Sweatshirt. Did you know there are actually really cute designer sweatshirts out there? Why are you wearing your husbands Bear’s sweatshirt? Ugh! I have some old cool favorites that are now a part of my “no one will see me wearing these because they have holes in them” pile… Time to replace those and I have found exactly what I need. These two will work perfectly.
The Flannel. Yep. They’rrrrrrre BAaaaaaacccckkkk. And I am utterly obsessed. I haven’t bought one of these since the early 90’s and it’s about damn time! Omg. When I wear it I am totally going to watch a few episodes of “My so called life.” AH!
The Shoes. A heeled bootie, a classic combat and the sneaker. Daytime footwear. Done.
The Headwear. Baseball caps. One of the most essential and life saving pieces in my daily wardrobe. Let’s step the game up a notch with a god damn leather baseball cap, shall we?! And a knit headband. We all need one of these.
If you are loving my style and the pieces I have shared here, go ahead and get to Aritzia, my favorite place to shop these days. Almost everything on this list is from there and you will LOVE everything they have on their floor. Promise.
Love it. Live it. Share it.
