Picture this: you wake up early on a beautiful, autumnal Saturday. After you throw on some yoga pants and a cozy sweater, you jump in the car or on the bus/el and head to the loop. Perhaps you even grab a delicious, hot cup of coffee as you make your way to Willis Tower. You hop into the elevator and head straight to the Skydeck on the 103rd floor for private access to view the gorgeous, urban scape that is our beautiful city – Chicago. After you’ve snapped your one of a kind photos in tree pose or maybe even a headstand, you head down to the 99th floor where an all levels yoga class led by, yours truly, will begin at 8am. Can you imagine relaxing on your yoga mat almost 100 floors high in the sky? As you yoga to music spun by a live DJ, you’ll tune in, move your body and end class with a little meditation. Again…100 floors up from the busiest city in the Midwest. Once class is wrapped and you Namaste your neighbors, it will be time for a mimosa. Yup, a little sparkling orange juice to get your day started. You are welcome to enjoy the ambiance until 10am when it will open back up to the public. Does this not sound like the dreamiest way to begin your Saturday morning?! I know this sounds like a fictional event, but it’s totally real and it’s all happening this coming Saturday (November 11th). All you need to do is purchase your ticket and bring yourself and your yoga mat. That is all. We will provide the rest of this incredible experience just for you.
Beside the fact that this event is the last of it’s kind this year, there is so much more to why you should join me this weekend. The truth of the matter is that we, humans, are nonstop. Am I right? We have this tendency to keep going and going and going until we have nothing left to give and maybe didn’t even get a chance to eat a normal meal or take a shower at the end of a busy day. We exert so much of our energy on other people that we sometimes forget about our own self care. We need some TLC too. November is a month of gratitude so why not show yourself, mind and body, some love and get your ass on the mat. Rain or shine, the view is spectacular. This is the perfect excuse to see the city while getting your yoga on and doing something for YOU. And, not to mention, it’ll be fun! Yoga Six has a pretty bad ass community so it is sure to be packed with a bunch of cool and kind folks. This will be my first time teaching a class 99 floors high and to say I am super freaking excited is an understatement. But, I’m nervous too – it’s that nervous excitement you feel when doing something for the first time. So, if you feel a like this is something a bit outside of your comfort zone, worry not, I’m stepping a bit outside of mine as well. Plus, I plan on doing a headstand in the Skydeck – a.k.a. a glass box in the sky (queue my nervous stomach ache)…the idea of doing that alone freaks me out, but YOLO. I hope you’ll consider joining me and a floor full of amazing humans to get your yoga on under some very cool and unique circumstances. And, if you’ve never done yoga before, what a way to take on your first class. I say, go for it! It’ll be the best gift you can give yourself this month as we work our way into the holiday season.
