Whether you’re having a Halloween party or just super into the spooky day like myself, I have found tons of awesome ideas to get your house all haunted like. You see, The Mister Project and I are finally hosting our very first haunted house Halloween party and I couldn’t me more excited than I am. For years, every year, we both would say the same thing: “I wish we had something fun to do for Halloween” or “I wish someone was having a party”. Well, this year is finally the year. As you have probably already suspected, Halloween is my jam. Big time. My birthday is October 23rd, I’m a Scorprio, I would buy spell books (only white magic) when I was young and weird, I would hunt for vampires, I’m a total fangbanger, I would literally beg my mama to take the Halloween boxes out of the crawl space for months leading up to the spooky holiday and I find utter enjoyment in scary movies. Basically, I should have been born on October 31 or in Salem…or both. Why not? So it only makes sense that I think of this party even more creatively expressive than our wedding, right? Right.

The theme for the decor is a haunted manor. Think skulls, spider webs, some harvest inspiration, tombstones, graveyards, ghosts, the Halloween soundtrack, and so, so much more! I have a TON of ideas. I want to keep the feel of the house but turn it into a semi decorated haunted home with a few surprises for the guests along the way. My main components are: the mantle, interior decor and the treats. Our friend gave us the idea to throw a spooky party months ago and since then, I have been planning NONSTOP. Here is my list of ideas and photos that are inspiring me beyond belief.

The Mantle – I want to use this space kind of as a center piece. I really love what I am seeing here in these photos and am definitely pulling inspiration from them. I don’t want to over clutter, but will have keys pieces to give the feel for the party and season.

I am definitely into more skulls and spookiness, but I do LOVE these vintage, little pumpkins. One could be a cute touch somewhere.

PS. I get some people may be weirded out by the skulls, but in the grand scheme of things I don’t think it’s that scary. I mean, has anyone seen those creeps that decorated their house like something from Silence of the Lambs? Fair warning…these people are taking Halloween to an entirely new messed up level. Did I mention they are a block from a school? #nightmares

Haunted Accents – I have a few ideas in mind that will help create a haunted effect in other areas of the house. I don’t want to oversaturate, so it’s important to have good pieces here and there. I’m also hoping to create as much of the decor as I can. I’m no Martha Stewart, so looking for things that are actually do-able but effective is key. Here’s what I’m eyeing.

Tricks and TREATS – I have the main food components in place, so I’m looking into treats and a special cocktail for the evening. Most of these are super easy to make and the little ones could help too!

dirt cakes

My sister-in-law makes dirt cake cups for all of the nieces and nephews birthday party and from what I can tell, the adults love them just as much as the kids. Especially yours truly. My mama used to make a dirt cake for my birthday party every year. This one has a pumpkin spin on it…yes please!

vamp cookies

Ummm, I cannot even deal with these little vamp gingerbread men. And could they be any easier to make? Looks like you just need to whip up some little ginger dudes, get some icing and vamp it up!

mini apples

These are so adorable and will definitely hit a sweet spot. Except I would use little black candies instead of harvest colors to go better with my theme. Here’s your how to!

apple heads

How frigging hilarious are these creepy little heads? Add some bourbon or rum and I’m all about it! Here’s how to make these funky apples. LOVE.

Wishing you all a spooky and chilling Halloween season! XO

Love it. Live it. Share it.

Hygge is humble and slow. It is choosing rustic over new, simple over posh, and ambience over excitement. In many ways, hygge might be the Danish cousin to slow and simple living.
