Well TSPeeps, this saying couldn’t pop up in my head at a more perfect time, am I right? My brain and environment is getting pummeled with all sorts of different energy and a shit ton of opinions and I don’t even know how to handle it at times. Everywhere I go, every which way I turn, there’s a political discussion. I’m guilty as charged over here too. I’m chock-full of them! In fact, I had to just recently tune out of several media outlets, conversations, and some social media just to feel as if I am keeping my own sanity. Emotions are running high and from what I can tell, we are all capable of telling everyone our opinion until we are blue in the face. So here’s my opinion: It’s the GD holiday season people and I for one am not going to allow my other favorite time of the year (Halloween comes in a close first) to be spoiled by political banter, pissed off humans, and a giant, orange-headed man. It’s the one time of the year we can all be fucking jolly and drink too much eggnog. It’s a time of year to get off our asses and computers, experience the season and do something kind for a less fortunate fellow human in need. One of my favorite quotes by the Dalai Lama is:
“If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion.”
When things are really shitty, helping others and our loved ones helps soften the blow when things seem really unsettling and disturbing. My friends, it’s times like these that truly test humanity. It’s times like these we need to be grateful for all that we have and show compassion to our neighbors and not be assholes to one another. Allow yourself time to decompress and just not deal with politics. It doesn’t have to be forever, maybe an hour, five days or just on the weekends. Whatever. Let’s just all try to keep in mind that we are all fighting a fight in some way, shape, or form. And most importantly, Happy Fucking Holidays TSPeeps! Love you! XO
Love it. Live it. Share it.
