As you know, beauty products are kind of my thing. Some would say, and I agree, that I have a problem, but my problem is a good problem to have (for you sometimes more than me). Do you know how much money and time I have wasted on products only to find out firsthand that they frigging suck? A ton. You guys should appreciate me more… especially in the summer. If there is one thing I love most about summer it’s the products. (I think I say that about every season. Shit.) I love the smells, the glows, the packaging, the colors, the…. well…. everything. Right now, my favorite products are a combination of those I have loved for decades and newbies I have recently fallen in love with. Anyone remember the old Brownies song? “Make new friends but keep the old. Some are silver and the others gold.” ? I have been known to sing that song after a haul to Sephora because that’s basically how I feel about my relationship with products. I am confident you will find a new favorite (or 5) on this list if you don’t already have them on yours.
Nars Monoi Body Glow. I have shared this product with you before but I have to keep giving it props because it is that good. I have been using this body oil for well over a decade and will never go a summer or on tropical vacation without it in my beauty arsenal. The Polynesian tiare flower (which is the Tahitian gardenia) is macerated (softened by soaking in a liquid) in coconut oil for 10 days which infuses the oil with the romantic and tropical scent of the exotic gardenia. This shit makes my olfactory system go wild! You would think it stops there. Nope. Add some bronzed, shimmering magic to the bottle and BOOM. Meet Nars Monoi Body Glow. Beautiful with tropical coconut oil, making this stuff my most coveted body oil of all time. Oh, and there’s this…
Monoï de Tahiti Oil: Used for centuries in French Polynesia for its medicinal, soothing, moisturizing, protecting and beautifying benefits.
Bain De Soliel. Must I really talk about this divine orange gift from the Sun Goddesses again? Haven’t you all listened to my rants and raves and gone and started using it by now? The answer seems to be “no” because I saw a few tubes on the shelf at the store the other day… So, listen up: if you opt to not stay see-through this summer (sun is good for you in moderation with some SPF), you need to be slathering your body (not face, you really should protect that precious thing) with the vintage tanning oil, Bain De Soiel. This stuff is old school. But, don’t for one second think since it’s been around forever that there is something better out there, because there isn’t. The signature scent is sexy and subtle and it is loaded with moisture-rich emollients that leave your skin glowing for days. Buy a tube and let me know what you think.
Schick Hydro Silk Razor. New favorite razor alert! I have been blessed (cursed) with super sensitive skin, making razor burn, bumps and ingrowns a constant thing for me. I use a pretty great shaving regime that works well for me, but I always like to try new razors that I think will jive with my skin. This razor is, hands-down, the best I have tried in a long-ass time. There is this great little band of slimy, soapy serum that aids in a smooth, razorburn-less shave (I use a shaving agent as well when I shave: click here). It really lathers up and adds moisture to my skin. The handle and grip are perfect and the results are better than that. If you are in the market for a new razor, I just done did you a favor and, if you aren’t in the market for a new razor, you should still try this because I think it may be better than what you are using now–so, I did you a favor there too.
Charlotte Tillbury Pillow Talk Lipstick and Lip Liner. Ok. So, basically, this line is my new obsession. I have mentioned it recently so it may ring a bell even if you haven’t tried her products yet. So far, every product I have tried I have loved and that is a rarity for me, considering I am a huge pain in the ass and hard to please. First and foremost? The packaging. IT IS PERFECTION. However, what’s inside is EVEN BETTER. My favorites at this very moment? Pillow Talk lip liner and lipstick. Apparently, the liner came first and people freaked out over it bc it looks perfect on everyone and is basically the perfect shade (pinky nude). Oh, and it goes on like butta. The liner did so well and was in such high demand (I went to buy it 3 times and could not find it in stock anywhere), Charlotte came out with Pillow Talk the lipstick. MmmHmmmm. And its fucking beautiful. This lipstick and liner duo are the most powerful superheroes of the costmetic world. If you are a simple gal who wants a classic lip, something that will look good every season and will work beautifully from day to night, this is your new best friend. And, fret not, fancy bitches (like me)! This will be your new go-to rose neutral lip. You’re going to freak out the first time you put Pillow Talk on your lips. I promise.
Swedish Dreams Sea Salt Soap. I was introduced to this soap while staying as a guest at our friend’s beautiful summer home in Maine. The Mrs. had it in the guest house bath and the packaging caught my eye. I am usually reluctant to use another body soap (I am a diehard Dove white bar kind of gal and bring a fresh bar everywhere I go) but this one intrigued me enough to try. I should add, this beautiful human has exquisite taste and the home is riddled with top-notch products, beautiful art, fluffy robes and just about anything luxurious you would hope to find while on a get-away. This, of course, led me to believe that whatever was inside that cute, little, blue box had to be fucking awesome. My intuition was right. Out of the box came a chunky round bar of soap that was cuter than my first born. The scent is refreshing and clean, like a day at sea, and the natural exfoliating agents in the soap itself are hardcore. I didn’t need to use my loofah to exfoliate before I shaved my legs. That’s major and unheard of in my world of shaving. Need some Vitamin Sea? This is the cure for that.
Tom Ford Soleil Blanc Perfume. Warning: it ain’t cheap. “UNEXPECTED. SULTRY. ADDICTIVE. REMOTE PRIVATE ISLANDS WHERE SUMMER LASTS ALL YEAR AND EACH DAY SEAMLESSLY BLENDS INTO THE NEXT INSPIRE SOLEIL BLANC; AN ADDICTIVE SOLAR-FLORAL AMBER ALIVE WITH SEDUCTIVE REFINEMENT AND REFRESHING DECADENCE. TOM FORD’S LATEST PRIVATE BLEND CREATION UNAPOLOGETICALLY EXUDES THE ENDLESS PURSUIT OF SUN AND LUXURY THAT DEFINES TOM FORD SOLEIL.” This is the description of Soleil Blanc on Tom Fords website. It comes in a beautiful white bottle with a gold label, packing brilliance, and makes for the perfect daytime or summer night scent. It is not one of those overly beachy perfumes that can be reminiscent of tanning oil. It is sophisticated and seasonally appropriate. Need I say more?
Nars Orgasm lipstick. I am a user of their cult classic blush, Orgasm, just like every other makeup lover on planet Earth. When I saw they had turned the blush into a lip color, I pretty much had my own orgasm and had to get my hands on a tube immediately and…. Let. Me. Tell. You. It is gorgeous! The shimmering peachy-pink, golden shade against my sun-kissed skin is subtle, stunning and sexy. Don’t go into this thinking it is going to be some crazy-ass shimmering peach lip color. I think peach and shimmery can be a scary idea for some. Listen to me, it’s frigging gorgeous and will, one million percent, be on my kisser all summer long and you will wish it was on yours too if you don’t get a tube of your own.
I know you are going to love everything on this list. I am always looking for new products to try so comment below and let me know what is on your list of summertime favorites! I am excited to hear! xo
Love it. Live it. Share it.
