Hello friend! It has been a while and I want you to know that although we have been quiet on the blog these past several months, I promise we weren’t sitting around twiddling our thumbs. The Sister Project has evolved and Lauren and I wanted to be sure our blog was just right before we got back to blogging.
So, here we are. Lot’s of changes from the whole look and feel on the blog to the fact that we are down a sister. Yes, it is true. Nicole is no longer blogging and although it seems like we are missing an arm or something, her life has taken her in a different direction and she has moved on to kill it in Real Estate and we are rooting for her. Duh. However, when Nicole decided to move on, Lauren and I were hungry (or is it thirsty?) to continue with TSP, but we weren’t willing to commit to something until we had a solid direction. I was always bothered by the fact that we were just another lifestyle blog with no clear niche and a questionable purpose.
So, we took some time from blogging to reflect and observe the world around us. We needed to regroup. As creatives, you can get bogged down by all the external noise and we felt we had lost sight of ourselves and who we are. While we took some time to reflect, we asked ourselves a series of questions; Who are Lauren and Michelle? What is The Sister Project? What is our purpose? How can we serve our readers so they leave our blog inspired to live their best life?
Once again I was reminded that when you put your desires out into the universe the universe delivers. And in this case, it delivered two-fold. Late last year we were introduced to a lovely little word called ‘hygge‘. If you are unfamiliar with the term, Hygge is a Danish word or lifestyle and means “the art of creating intimacy” or “cozy togetherness”. Doesn’t that sound glorious? After Lauren and I learned of this word we went on a bit of a hygge expedition and at the end of our journey we realized a very striking commonality we both shared. We are hygge and have always been hygge. Finally, we have a word to describe the type of lifestyle bloggers we are and for the first time ever we have a common path and direction as to where this blog is headed.
The Sister Project is always evolving just as we do as human beings. Our lives are our projects. It is our dream to continue to create a place and a community where you can come and escape, gather some words of wisdom or a nugget to take with you so you too can live your best life. To us, the hygge lifestyle is all about creating moments and perhaps sharing those moments with the ones you love. Today’s world is one filled with constant connection and immediate gratification. It also feels a little like we are always on the run. It is our mission to help guide you to a place in your life or in your space that not only makes you feel cozy and happy, but also reminds you that life is less about the things and more about the moments. That is the very essence of who we are and we intend on sharing all of that with you.
