Creating a cozy space allows you to tap into the details you love. Scents, textures, colors, and designs that speak to your most cozy being.

When it comes to styling your nook, it’s important to pull from inspiration that makes your heart skip a hygge beat. The space you choose might be a sitting room, a screened in porch, it can even be your kitchen or bathtub. It should be wherever you feel most happiest.

Pro Tip: Houseplants. Faux Fur. Lighting.

Those three elements can and, most likely will, take your hygge nook to the next level. Lighting is key. The softer or more natural the lighting, the better. Plants help bring in some earthy elements and life to your nook. Whereas anything faux fur ups your cozy game by 100!

Pro Tip: World Market has steller faux fur home decor!

The following hygge nooks are inspiration for you to draw upon. Keep in mind you don’t need to remodel an entire room…you may just need to tweak it a touch with some lighting or a big fiddle leaf fig tree.
The most important thing is, you, do you.

Behold. Next level hygge sanctuaries.

 Travelers – check out the world map. This black and white space is the perfect spot to cozy up and get your wanderlust on!

@daniellelouisedoughty

Could sit here all damn day. With those little booties on.

@franciskasvakreverden

Can you imagine snuggling up with a cup of coffee and the newest issue to your favorite magazine in this space?

@laid_back_farmhouse

Here we have a sexy hygge nook. The lighting is on point.

@boligdesigneren

If you have limited space, consider a small spot for you to reflect and admire your little home. The pop of colors and the disco balls tell us that whoever lives here is FUN!

@house_of_chester

Can anyone else smell freshly baked loaves of bread? So many hygge kitchen goals are happening here especially the faux fur covered stools. Love.

@kerrylockwood_

Such a stunning array of textures! Particularly the exposed brick wall and ladder…which I would drape some faux fur over. Duh.

@madeleineshouse72

Can we talk about the antlers with the fairy lights? How about the combo of hues? It’s all so brilliant and calming.

@sixat21

Let’s take a moment to admire the candles happening here. There really is something so, almost meditative, about an open flame. What a great spot to read recipes in.

@kohteessa

The only thing missing here is a beautiful golden retriever laying in front of the fireplace. This room is so simple, yet extra hygge at the same time!

@laid_back_farmhouse

The black and white images add a playful twist to this seriously earthy space. We can smell the freshly cut logs from here! Also, note the candle holder near the swing. Go to Michael’s for a holder and LED candles to replicate. Such a great idea!

@renovating_ethelwolf

A bubble bath is one of the most relaxing of hygge sanctuaries. Candles, some bubbles and either something or nothing to read. Your call.

And finally, a hygge inspired office setting. The crisp white with pops of natural elements definitely brings this little corner to the next level!

@princessavanessa

You guys. Michelle and I cried laughing when we sa You guys. Michelle and I cried laughing when we saw the second photo. We were going for pondering forest photos to show off my walkin’ sticks. Did I misplace my neck and turn into the Hunchback of Notre Dame?

Hygge is humble and slow. It is choosing rustic over new, simple over posh, and ambience over excitement. In many ways, hygge might be the Danish cousin to slow and simple living.
