Trader Joe’s Kitchen Staples

Our Trader Joe’s obsession is nothing new and, as it turns out, we aren’t the only ones. To know TJ is to love him. If you are lucky enough to have a Trader Joe’s in your town it is something akin to winning the supermarket lottery.

The Trader Joe’s experience isn’t just about the food. TJ’s offers a friendly, small-town grocer vibe with smiling staff who are always willing to lend a hand or offer a tip on a food product that might cross their scanner.

Trader Joe’s packaging is appealing and the assortment of quick and delicious food items are endless. I love everything about this quaint little market, except when they discontinued my favorite chocolate bar. Nevertheless, I show up every week to stock my fridge with all the things my family loves.  The overall vibe is delightful and Trader Joe’s quality always has me coming back for more.

It has been a minute since I shared some of my most recent Trader Joe’s favorites. These are the items I am currently loving.

Cauliflower Pancakes

I have to say, I was skeptical when I passed these in the freezer section because my mom’s latke recipe is tops and I wasn’t sure if these would satisfy.  OMG! These frozen cauliflower patties are #1 on my list! I have been eating them for breakfast with eggs, but they also pair nicely with an arugula salad.  I love the crispy outside and savory middle. I heat mine through on my cast iron skillet with a little coconut oil spray. Also a Trader Joe’s staple.

Raw Brazil Nuts

If you haven’t perused the Trader Joe’s nut aisle then you haven’t lived. It is one of my favorite aisles in the store. My most recent nut craze is over the uber-healthy Brazil nut. These suckers are big and delicious and, to be honest, I eat them more for their medicinal purposes than anything else. They are rich in the mineral selenium. In a nutshell, (see what I did there?) they are good for boosting immunity, inflammation reduction, thyroid regulation and so much more.  Buy a bag, have three a day. You are golden.

Premium Salmon Burgers

In an effort to eat less meat and more fish, I decided to give the salmon burger a whirl. Let’s just say they have been in my cart every week for the last month. I have seasoned these puppies up with everything from S & P to Trader Joe’s Everything Bagel seasoning. I love that they are frozen so you don’t have to cook them within a certain amount of time. Just pop ’em out of the freezer as needed, heat up and enjoy!

Norwegian Crispbread

Lauren is going to be shocked when she sees this product on my current list of faves. She is usually the one eating what I call “human birdseed.” However, I was inspired by a fellow influencer (ahem, Amber Lancaster) after she shared her recipe for tuna salad paired with these delicious gluten free crisps. There is no end in sight on how you can eat these. Serve alongside a salad, spread avocado on them or pair with some of your favorite smoked fish like a proper Norwegian and you’ve got yourself a snack worth savoring.

Organic Dark Chocolate and PB& J

These organic dark chocolate pb&j candies are what I indulge in when I am enjoying life’s little sweet treats. The dark chocolate PB&J minis come individually wrapped and are absolutely delicious. They are the perfect treat to pack in little Susie’s lunch for a post-meal snack or do what I do: hide them from everyone and keep them all to yourself.

Pizza Crust

My kids love to make their own pizzas. Mommy really loves when the dough doesn’t have to be rolled out and is instead all ready to go. Simply finish with your favorite pizza toppings and follow the heating instructions on the packaging. We use Trader Joe’s Quattro Formaggio cheese and Ciao pepperoni. The crust is crispy and delicious. Mom didn’t have to do a damn thing. That there is the perfect dinner. That is, the one we don’t have to make ourselves.

Cold Brew Coffee

Sometimes you need a coffee fix and ya don’t feel like breaking the bank at Starbucks. I am currently loving Trader Joe’s Cold Brew to give me the boost I need. I prefer the black option because the vanilla flavor has more sugar, however, they are both great and get the job done! Trader Joe’s cold brew to the rescue!

Gluten-Free Bread

I don’t eat a lot of bread but when I’m craving carbs this bread is my go-to.  These mini slices taste best toasted and schmeared with avocado or your favorite jam. The best part is they are GLUTEN FREE!

Trader Joe’s Mini Cone

I am starting to think I am obsessed with miniature things just like my kid when she was three. Oh well. These mini cones come in chocolate and vanilla and, while they may only take a few bites to complete, they sure do hit the spot without ever feeling like you are overdoing it.

Trader Joe’s Fiery Chicken Curry

TJ’s Indian food game is strong. If you like bold and spicy flavors and need to make something in a hurry, toss one of these in your cart the next time you are at the store. The chicken was perfect. I have had this several times and never once have I bitten into any mystery meat or a peanut that isn’t actually a peanut, if you know what I mean? Consider yourself warned. This stuff is hot. The title does not lie.

There you have it, friends. Be on the lookout for more Trader Joe’s product posts. If you like these recommendations and want more, check out Lauren’s Trader Joe’s must have for special occasions.
xo, Michelle

Hygge is humble and slow. It is choosing rustic over new, simple over posh, and ambience over excitement. In many ways, hygge might be the Danish cousin to slow and simple living.
