Any basic b*tch who loves autumn knows how important it is to have her or his home stinking of pumpkin spice, crisp apples, and cinnamon. It simply adds that extra level of warmth and coziness as the air begins to cool outdoors.
These yummy smells are the epitome of hygge fall vibes in the home.
Of course, the easiest way to accomplish this is to invest in some delightful fall candles. We have a whole list of them right here for you.
However, there is another, more natural, way to create these same scents. Why not fill your home with real-life cinnamon sticks, orange peels, and cloves?!
Similar to a mulling mix – this little concoction will have your home feeling and smelling like autumn in no time at all. Plus, it’s likely you already have what it takes to get your fall simmer stovetop on.
Let’s do this, fellow fall worshippers.
Fall Simmer Ingredients:
Water
3 cinnamon sticks
Orange peel or baked citrus discs
7 cloves
1 teaspoon ground pumpkin spice
And finally, dedicate a pot to your annual fall simmering because it is going to get funky.
Other options: apple cider, dried lavender (for relaxing fall vibes), star of anise, ground cinnamon, lemon peels, ground nutmeg. The world is your oyster, so get creative!
Fall Simmer Directions:
Fill your fall simmer pot halfway with water.
Place your natural ingredients in the pot.
Bring your fall simmer to a boil.
Turn down your heat to very low (you almost want it off) and let your autumnal potion simmer and scent your cozy abode.
Let simmer for 30-45 minutes.
You are going to freak out when you smell what you created!
Simmer Tip: Set a timer for thirty minutes so you don’t forget about it.
Simmer Tip: You may need to add water over time so keep an eye on your water level.
Simmer Tip: If you want to beautify your simmer, preheat your oven to 250 degrees. Place thinly sliced orange discs on parchment paper and bake for 2-3 hours.
Simmer Tip: Need an Oktoberfest hostess gift? Grab a mason jar and fill it with your go-to fall stovetop simmer ingredients. Cover with a lid and tie some twine in a bow. Voila! Go just gave the gift of hygge in a jar.
What are you going to put in your fall stovetop simmer?
Enjoy your deliciously stinky creation!
Happy Fall y’all!
xo, Lauren
