8 Things You Should Know About Hallowpalooza

Hallowpalooza was born out of a love for our favorite season, an obsession with all things spooky, and a continued desire to spread awareness and raise money for the bitch of a disease that took our mom too soon. She hasn’t even been gone a year, but we couldn’t let our first Halloween without her go by without doing something to fill the massive void June Bug left behind.

Here are 8 things you should know about Hallowpalooza:

* * * * *

Where is your generous donation going?

We have aligned with The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration. AFTD works to improve the quality of life for people affected by FTD and drive research for a cure. Their five-pronged mission centers around research, support, awareness, education, and advocacy.

How to get to Hallowpalooza:

First of all, we hope you come and plan to enjoy yourself so we always encourage Uber. Please. Don’t drink and drive. But, if you are dressing up as Sober Sally for Halloween, rest assured there is plenty of street parking. Should you dwell in the city, might we recommend Metra’s delightful BNSF line to the Western Springs stop? The Village Club is walking distance from the train.

You are going to want to dress up. Don’t be lame.

Hallowpalooza would be a real SNOOZA if there was no costume contest. There will be four winners; best female, best male, best group/ensemble and best costume of the night. Cash prizes ($200) for the best female, male and group/ensemble are sponsored by Midway Dispensary. The GRAND PRIZE is reserved for the best costume of the night and it really is a grand prize–we are giving away a weekend in Saugatuck, MI at a beautiful home for the winner and 20 of their friends! The Julie Sutton Group has generously sponsored the grand prize and, if the chance to win a weekend away in an incredible home doesn’t entice you to pull out all of the stops, then maybe you should stay home with the kids…

Food and drink sponsors.

Be sure to arrive at Hallowpalooza hungry and thirsty. You will be dining on some of our favorite local fare. Thank you to Alpine Subs, Lucca’s Pizzeria, 5 Rabbit Cerveceria, Revolution, Temperance Beer Co., Breakthrough Beverage, and Virtue Cider.

Music and Entertainment brought to you by…

Brendan Greeley of the Steve Dahl Show. We knew Brendan before he became a celeb so we have always been his best audience. You are in for a real treat. Our friend has a voice for radio and has had it since he could talk. He is hilarious and charming–and ladies…he is single. You aren’t going to want to miss him!

Let’s talk raffles.

We are raffling off 20 prizes that are so great you will have a hard time deciding which bucket to drop your ticket in. Hallowpalooza raffle prizes are as follows:

Salon Buzz Haircut & color

The Ultimate LaGrange Raffle Prize – Win this raffle and you win gift cards to Jayne, Urban Mutt, Hortons, Mak’s House, Tates, Whisper Me Home, La Buona Vita, and Stockholm Objects. This prize really is the gift that keeps on giving.

How can you buy your ticket?

Tickets are for sale here. We are encouraging everyone to purchase their tickets in advance but, never fear, last-minute Larry’s will be able to purchase their tickets at the door.

In the event, you cannot make Hallowpalooza but you would like to make a donation to the Association for FTD please consider this.

You can write a check to AFTD with “Hallowpalooza” in the memo line and mail it to:

The Association for FTD

290 King of Prussia Road.

Building 2, Ste 320

Radnor, PA 19087

Don’t think about it for another minute. Just buy the darn ticket. Find a buddy, dust off an old costume if you aren’t die-hard and enjoy some great food and drinks with folks who like to have a good time for a good cause.

Hygge is humble and slow. It is choosing rustic over new, simple over posh, and ambience over excitement. In many ways, hygge might be the Danish cousin to slow and simple living.
