I love books as much as chocolate and think the gift of one or two for a few months or a year would be the absolute best gift on planet earth! There is no end in sight when it comes to the immeasurable amount of books that exist in the world which means there is a darn book for everyone.

We are always encouraging you to create moments that matter and while you are at it, get a little cozy. As we hit the final stretch of the Christmas shopping season, I thought a gift that inspires a little hygge for the book lover in your life sounded like the appropriate choice.

I scoured the internet for the best book subscriptions around and was not surprised by the great variety of subscriptions that live online. Here are 9 book subscriptions worth gifting.

Kids Curated Books By Cratejoy ($31.99/mo)

This book subscription is curated according to the young person in your life’s age and interest. Each month one lucky recipient will get 4 books to empower and inspire. The best part is if your young bibliophile already owns a book they receive, just snap a photo donating the duplicate to your local library and they will send you a $5.00 credit. That is better than a hot poker in the eye!

Coach Crate by Cratejoy ($38.25/mo)

This subscription is centered all-around personal growth so you know I am obsessed! The Coach Crate is more than just a book box geared toward empowerment, well-being, and quality of life! This book subscription comes with a reading guide to assist you through the month’s book, coach’s videos and several productivity items and products to help you grow out of your comfort zone. I love this subscription and so will the ever-evolving human in your life.

The Book Box by Boxwalla  ($29.95)

If you have a book worm that is into the less known, more obscure books and would be game to read something that will likely not appear on the New York Time’s Best Seller List then the Book Box might just be their thing.  This subscription highlights authors, past, and present, from all over the world. Some are classics, others might be potential Nobel Laureates. The lucky recipient of this box will get two books every two months with a detailed insert about each book. How exciting!

The Book of The Month Club ($16.00 – $50.00/mo)

If that special someone in your life loves a good book and isn’t angling for the jelly of the month club then The Book of The Month Club then a book subscription might just be the best prezzie ever! This book membership releases 5 books each month and the subscriber chooses the one they would like to dive into. Not to fear! If none of the books pique interest, you can choose a previously released book. One more thing! If the reader isn’t a speed reader and wants to skip a month, that is A-ok! Reading isn’t supposed to be stressful.

The Book Hookup by Strand ($55.00- $200.00/mo)

Now, this here book subscription ain’t just any old subscription. This is the actual ‘Book Hookup’ because the lucky recipient is going to receive a signed, first edition copy of whatever book is sent. As if that wasn’t the coolest part, also included in this book box is a paperback and literary treats and treasures to round out this badass box. The Book Hookup offers a variety of subscriptions ranging from feminist literature to timeless favorites and everything in between. This seems like the perfect book subscription for the book collector.

Chocolate and Book ($17.00-$100.00/mo)

Chocolate and a Book is a book subscription with a hygge twist. This book box is definitely for the cozy obsessed book lover in your life. Simply choose the genre of choice and leave the rest up to the folks at Chocolate and a Book. They get what it means to enjoy the simple pleasures in life like books and chocolate. Did I mention the hot drink that is also included? Yeah, hygge AF.

The Wordy Traveler ($50.00 – $570.00/quarterly)

The Wordy Traveler book subscription is definitely a pricier book box option, but who said traveling was cheap? This extra special book club delivers one book quarterly and each box features a different destination. Included in your wanderlust inspired box is an ethically sourced tea from whatever region you are reading about as well a custom art print to really light the fire to travel. This box will definitely inspire the wanderlust in your life. Especially since some of the proceeds go to educating girls and women across the globe. Can I get a hell yeah?

Amazon Prime Book for Kids  ($14.00-$20.00/mo)

Why wouldn’t Amazon have a book subscription? They have a subscription for everything else! This book box is definitely geared toward the young-ins. Amazon separates their box option by age and then every 1, 2 or 3 months two hardcover books are delivered or 4 board books for the tinys. Prime boasts savings up to 40% on all hardcovers when you do the subscription. It sounds like a no brainer.

Audible by Amazon

This book subscription list would not be complete without Audible. It is quite possible this book membership will offend the traditionalist, but the fact of that matter is folks are listening to books just as much as they are reading them and this alternative way to enjoying a good read is pretty darn awesome. When you give the gift of audible you have four memberships to choose from. The longer the membership the more credits are given. Audible also offers wellness guided programs, as well as easy exchanges on any listen that isn’t preferred. Audible sounds like a solid gift for the book lover that is always on the go.

I hope this little list inspired you to consider giving a different sort of gift this holiday season.

xo, Michelle

Hygge is humble and slow. It is choosing rustic over new, simple over posh, and ambience over excitement. In many ways, hygge might be the Danish cousin to slow and simple living.
