@maddibazzocco

When Spring rolls around and the trees start showing off their beautiful floral displays, I often find myself diving a bit further into my own inner beauty and self-care regiments.

It’s almost as if nature is nudging us a bit to take better care of ourselves and look deeper into our own wellness. To help us bloom at our fullest capacity. That is the most beautiful thing about nature, we’re part of it.

Given our current situation, it’s not a terrible idea to consider your wellness regiment while we are sheltering in place. Heck, we have all the time in the world at the moment to clean out our beauty cabinets and rid them of toxic products.

When we dive deeper into the care for ourselves it allows us to be happier with the simple things in life.

It gives us an opportunity to create rituals of wellness for our mind, body, and soul. Such feel-good vibes, which is something we can all use right now.

Below I have shared some small businesses*, products, and healthy lifestyle implementations that have me feeling mentally and physically nourished.

I am so excited to share these with you!

NOMAD*

One step into NOMAD and it feels like I’m on a wanderlust adventure.

The space is worldly with strong notes of bohemian vibes and just as strong ties to philanthropic endeavors. The ladies in charge have curated quite an experience in their shop.

Under regular circumstances, NOMAD is much more than a boutique. It’s an event space, meeting/workspace, and café. For many, it’s an opportunity to learn and grow. There’s a lot of beauty and goodness that goes into NOMAD and you can feel it.

Speaking of beauty, NOMAD is home to a stunning selection of all-natural skin and body care. If you are interested in clean beauty products, you need to peruse their products. What we put in and on our bodies matter big time.

We recently sat down with Erika Nolan, Creative Director of NOMAD, and she filled us in on all of her must-have and must-do beauty and wellness tips.

Some of our personal favorite items are Everyday Oil, gua sha for facial massages, and this gorgeous coral organic lip tint by HENNÉ.

EQUILIBRIA

If bathtime is synonymous with self-care to you – you need to check out Equilibria’s most recent addition to their collection.

Adding CBD into your tub time routine is surely going to take it to the next level of relaxation. Infused with full-spectrum CBD these bath bombs, bath soak, and fragrance rollers are the perfect addition to me time.

While you’re at it, you might as well grab yourself a CBD tincture to add to your calming and de-stressing vibes.

Equilibria is woman-owned and local here in Chicago. I’ve been using CBD for two years and recently switched to  Equilibria almost three months ago. I fully endorse Equilibria for Women – it’s clean and beautiful CBD. Here’s more information about this magical plant, how it works, and how it won’t get you high.

**Know where you get your CBD…never at a gas station, 7-11, or OMG, I’ve seen it sold at a video rental shop. Remember those?

BALA ANKLE WEIGHTS

What better way to add a little strengthening to your day than ankle weights?

I know, I know – it’s very Jane Fonda of me, but wearing 1 lb ankle weights every day has me feeling strong in the legs. I recently ordered Bala’s 2 lbs weights and I cannot wait to get them around my ankles! Balas are way chicer than mine from the late ’90s and they’re sleek enough to wear while out and about.

Heads up  – they are on backorder, but they’re well worth the wait! (See what I did there?)

@bala

LODGE CAST-IRON SKILLET

In all seriousness, if you do not yet have a cast-iron skillet in your kitchen, you’re missing out.

You guys, there is so much one can do with this bad boy!  You can bake a cake or cook a steak. How about a Dutch baby? You like crispy brussels sprouts? Done. One-pot pasta…or would you rather mac and cheese?

When it comes to the cast-iron skillet, the world is your oyster. They may be big, but they’re sexy as hell and whip up one heck of a meal!

@lodgecastironskillet

ALL BIRDS

Walking is one of the most essential parts of life, you might as well have a comfortable pair on while you get those steps in that also happen to look really cute, too.

I loved my first pair of All Birds so much, a second pair made it to my wish list last holiday season. It’s not just their looks that I love, they’re insanely cozy, machine washable, and most importantly, ethically sourced. Bingo.

The perfect trifecta.

THE SILL

House plants add so much happiness to a home. They’re bright and often forgiving. They even have health benefits!

Studies have shown that fresh flowers in your home are good for your mind and body…I freaking love nature. If you’re on the hunt for natural beauty to add to your home, check out The Sill. They’ll deliver a vibrant plant straight to your doorstep almost anywhere in the country. Worth noting: a house plant makes for a perfect gift for some one’s birthday, a special holiday, or loss.

*If you’re local (Chicago/West Suburbs of Chicago), please consider shopping with our friend and plant expert, Kim at Bloom 3 in LaGrange, IL. She is a wealth of knowledge and knows a thing or two about re-potting a plant.

LUXXE HONOR*

Coming in hot from LaGrange, IL, LUXXE HONOR, has all of your all-natural and organic skincare and home care needs.

Under regular circumstances, LUXXE HONOR operates also as a mindful/yoga studio, but in the meantime, the ladies and gents over yonder, are thrilled to be shipping out clean products all over the country. They’re working tirelessly to create clean products and get them straight to your doorstep.

My personal favorites are the jasmine rose face mist, Peace all-natural fragrance roller, and their body oil.

Also available, hand sanitizer (which is a bit hard to come by these days).

You are welcome to use our code for 20% off your order: SISTERPROJ20

SCOUT & CELLAR WINE

Why is finding a fantastic bottle of organic, clean wine sometimes hard to come by?  Welp…not anymore!

Scout and Cellar to the clean wine rescue! Like a lot of things we love, wine with added crap is not the best thing for us. Crap like added sugars and non-organic chemicals to enhance or modify the flavor and/or color. That’s gross, but I’m sure I’ve had my fill of it.

Consider Scout & Cellar a natural approach to winemaking…which always leads to a more pleasant experience. Now, I will say this, the first time I tried Scout & Cellar, I was so excited I very much so over imbibed. No matter how clean a bottle of wine is, a hangover is a hangover. Recently, I enjoyed a bottle of rosé gifted by my sister and it was a delightful sipping experience!

My favorite bottles here are: Fiddleneck Syrah and Fieldhouse Rosé

You can either order a la carte or join the wine club. Either way, you’re in for a treat!

THE SEASONED PLATE*

There is nothing better than a delicious, seasonal meal. Ripe, juicy heirloom tomatoes in the late summer, early fall. Warm strawberry and fresh spinach in the summer.

You know what I’m talking about. The rule of thumb is and always will be – the more seasonal, the better!

Cookbook author and chef, Nicole Putzel of Putzel Kitchen, created her very first cookbook, The Seasoned Plate for this very reason.

Her ideal meal is fresh from her garden with meat sourced locally. Speaking of, my husband made a reversed seared streak according to her recipe, verbatim, and it was out of this world good!

To use what we have as the planet provides it, is really such a nourishing thought, isn’t it?!

She has kindly offered a code for free shipping, please use: THESISTERPROJ – to get your very own copy delivered straight to your home.

I hope you are able to find a little something to amp up your wellness routine while at home this Spring.
Stay well, friends! xo, Lauren

Hygge is humble and slow. It is choosing rustic over new, simple over posh, and ambience over excitement. In many ways, hygge might be the Danish cousin to slow and simple living.
