I have to admit, ever since the feeling of fall has arrived, I have been experiencing a bit of a pep in my step. A sort of feeling of revival, if you will?

I feel happy, excited, and strangely optimistic. These feelings are eerily similar to the ones I have when I have something to look forward to.

It must be the onset of fall! How could it not?

My corner of the Midwest has blessed us with near-perfect temps and gorgeous autumn skies. For what it’s worth, the kids are back to school, however that may look for you, which is nice. Different, but nice.

I can’t be sure what came first, the onset of fall or my own personal autumn enhancers fueled by a future filled with fires and crinkling leaves.

In any case, if you are looking to really savor the season and make your home feel like fall too, I’d like to share my ways with you.

Here are 5 simple ways to make your home feel a little more like fall.
Light your favorite fall candle

I don’t know what it is about this season, but come September (okay, August) my body yearns for the smell of pumpkin spices and autumn wreaths. Bust one of these out and let that flame burn all day and night. Your house will reek of what’s to come.

Put out some mums

Autumn and mums go hand-in-hand. As soon as the grocery store crowds their entryway with mums, I know my house is one step closer to feeling more like fall.

Open the windows

Bring the smell of fall inside with fall fresh air. (Sidenote: Our mom’s caregiver hated our candle obsession. She always said, “If you want fresh air girls, open a window.” Our mom, on the other hand, loved a good fall candle. So we did both.

Burn our stovetop simmer

We should call the smell that comes from the stovetop, Autumn Jubilee. It smells of cinnamon, orange, clove and ginger. It is Hygge AF.

Make that soup you have been craving

Nothing feels more like fall then when the SOUP IS ON! Pull out granny’s cast iron pot and make the one you have been craving all year!

Stay cozy,
Michelle

Hygge is humble and slow. It is choosing rustic over new, simple over posh, and ambience over excitement. In many ways, hygge might be the Danish cousin to slow and simple living.
