Prepare yourself for one of the most beautiful tales of friendship you may ever hear.
Brought together by grief and loss, Maria Kent Beers from Boston and Rachael Martinez of Los Angeles, became friends on Instagram due to having a loved one with frontotemporal dementia (FTD). In fact, they found each other through a hashtag for dementia. Talk about a unique way to find a new best friend.
As many individuals did from across the internet during the pandemic, Maria and Rachael developed an extraordinary bond.
But what started as a friendship quickly turned into so much more than that.
Maria shared her dream with Rachael to create a space for individuals to remember their loved one who was living with or passed from FTD. Immediately Rachael was on board.
Through this dream, Remember Me Podcast was born.
In August 2021, the woman celebrated the one-year anniversary of Remember Me.
We had the opportunity to virtually sit down with Rachael and Maria to hear about how their friendship flourished, what drove them to create Remember Me, and also talk a bit about loss and grief. This episode is a feel-good listen that will make you both laugh and cry and maybe even take time to remember a loved one loss.
To listen to their entire story, which is incredibly remarkable, please tune in to the episode above.
