This year, consider gifting loved ones brain-healthy presents that will have their minds and bodies feeling nourished.
There are so many benefits to people of all ages exercising their brains and treating them with love and compassion. It’s the type of gift that keeps on giving.
And listen, you don’t need to give them a card saying:
Hey, this is for the health of your brain.
The gift alone will speak for itself.
Below is a list of brain-healthy gift ideas for your loved ones and maybe even for yourself this year.
Gift a Brain Workout
Just like muscles, our brains need exercise to stay vibrant and healthy. This season, consider the gift of a brain workout because like they say – if you don’t use it, you lose it.
Think puzzles, a great book, or even a subscription to learn a foreign language.
Our favorite puzzles: Piecework, Gray Malin, and The New Yorker.
Here’s a little more on the health benefits of puzzling.
Physical Fitness Inspiration
Exercising the body does beautiful things for the health of the brain. Sometimes our loved ones need a little motivation or something to spice it up. Consider gifting a loved one encouragement to get the body moving.
New walking shoes, walking sticks (a personal favorite), a gift certificate for dance lessons, Tai Chi, a new yoga mat, or private yoga lessons are incredible options.
My favorite suggestion: Bala Bangle weights to add to ankles or wrists to amp up daily walks. They come in so many incredible colors and weight options. They can be worn even when tending to daily tasks at home.
Give The Gift Of Zen
There is nothing quite like meditating every single day. Finding moments of silence to concentrate on your breathing does wonders for the mind, body, and soul.
Even as a yoga teacher it can sometimes be hard to take the time and commit, but that’s the beauty of a meditation app – you an do it anywhere, anytime!
Give a year subscription to someone you know who needs a little mindful breathing to quiet the mind and give the brain a breather. No pun intended.
My favorite meditation app: Insight Timer. There are literally thousands of options and courses to choose from, ranging from two minutes to thirty minutes.
Something Brain-Healthy To Sip On
Did you know a little red wine is actually great for the brain? Yup! Consider gifting a beautiful, Italian bottle of Montepulciano or Amarone to someone you love. One glass a night does a brain good.
If you’re looking for something non-alcoholic, green tea is a massive nutritional booster for the brain.
My favorite tea: One of my all-time favorite tea shops is in the Gold Coast, Chicago – TeaGschwendner. I am IN LOVE with their Coconut Green Tea, served hot or cold. It is stunning and so good for you.
Brain Healthy Cookbooks
It’s no secret that the Mediterranean Diet is hailed as one of the brain healthiest diets on the planet. Diets rich in olive oil, fish, dark leafy greens, berries, and even red wines are thought to have exceptional brain nutrients.
Give the gift of a Mediterranean cookbook to inspire your favorite foodie loved one. Not only will it add some new recipes to their repertoire, but it will also have them eating brain-healthy meals on the regular.
My favorite Mediterranean cookbook: This is one of my favorite cookbooks ever!
Brain Health Supplements
As we already know, when it comes to brain health, nutrition plays a huge role. And as much as we may try and put forth the effort to always eat a well-balanced Mediterranean diet, we may not always get in what we need to nourish our brains on a daily basis.
But that’s what supplements are for.
In an effort to pick of the slack when we lack, daily intakes of NeuroReserve’s brain healthy supplement, Relevate, help in that department. Modeled after the Mediterranean and MIND diet, Relevate is jam-packed with brain-healthy nutrients.
Use our code: TSP for 15% off of your order. Everyone and their mother should have daily intakes of Relevate. So good for the noggin!
We hope this list inspired you to take you the health of your and your loved ones’ brains seriously.
