One of my favorite places to be with the people I love (as well as all by myself) is outside in my city backyard.
We’re lucky to have a little space behind our house backed up to our garage and alley that offers a cozy environment for outdoor good times. Along with a space to gather or settle in with a book and glass of wine, we have a little garden as well making it truly a magical outdoor oasis smack dab in the middle of the city.
Our city patio is always a work in progress. Last year, Anthony stripped and stained our deck and a Solo Stove was added to our space. My garden is always changing from year to year as I like to experiment with what I grow. Note to self, don’t grow cucumbers. #hotmess
Each year we add more to our space to make it as cozy as possible. From lighting to furniture, our little city patio is truly our favorite space in our home.
When it comes to setting up my city backyard vibes, here are a few things I keep in mind:
Lighting. I love nothing more than twinkling lights and outdoor lamps to set the tone. Oh! And candles too!
Plants, plants, and more plants. Greenery adds nature and life to our city life.
A fire pit. The smell of a bonfire on a chilly night creates the perfect hygge ambiance.
Cozy furniture. I want anyone who enjoys our backyard to be extra comfortable and feel right at home.
With the help of our partner, Hortons Home Lighting, I have created the cutest and most dreamy city patio. And guess what – you can too!

We love our Solo Stove Bonfire. It’s the perfect size for our city backyard and offers plenty of heat on cool nights. Plus it’s super sleek looking, which I love. Be sure to get the Solo Stove cover and fit pit utensils.
YETI ramblers are such great items to have at home. They keep your drinks chilled or hot, depending on what you’re sipping on, and no worries if you drop them. No broken glass to deal with. I love all of the colors they come in as well.
If there is a cooler to invest in, it’s a YETI cooler. They’re sleek, will keep your food and bevies cold, and will last forever!
Happy Patio Season, friends! Enjoy it with the help of Hortons!
