When the temperature keeps rising but you still have to eat, the only feasible option is to cook al fresco, and by that, I mean grill pizzas!
I have discovered something new and fun to make that my kids also happen to love. I am obsessed with this new quick and easy meal and anything goes!
Fresh basil and tomatoes happen to be the stars of this show and my favorite summer flavors. Little blobs of burrata add a subtle afterthought, which I happen to think is quite nice.
As usual, I like to keep it simple and this recipe is no different as we are busy AF.
No time for kneading and rising. I use Trader Joe’s pizza dough and let me tell you, it gets the job done!

When it comes to home cooking, I have a few requirements, and grilled pizza meets all of them.
Few ingredients. Check.
Quick cook time. Check.
Delish. Check. Check.
Grilled Margherita pizza is a solid summer dish to add to your arsenal and the whole family can get involved!
All you need are some fresh, quality ingredients and a little bit of love.
Rest assured there is no wrong way to grill a pizza. You can use whatever ingredients you have on hand and whatever your heart desires.
For the perfect summer meal, pair it with a nice salad and some strawberries and fluff, and enjoy!

Grilled Margherita Pizza
Equipment
- pizza stone
Ingredients
- 1 each pizza dough I use Trader Joe's plain pizza dough
- 3 tbsp flour
- pizza sauce I use Trader Joe's pizza sauce that you find in the refrigerated section
- 4-5 whole peeled San Marzano tomatoes smashed with your hand
- 1/2 c. grated mozzarella cheese I used bagged shredded from Trader Joes, but fresh mozzarella would work as well.
- Burrata Cheese
- olive oil
Instructions
- Place a pizza stone on the grill and preheat to 450°
- Lightly flour your surface and roll your dough to about a 12" diameter.
- Spread a very thin layer of pizza sauce on the dough.
- Break up the San Marzano tomatoes and spread them evenly atop the pizza.
- Spread a healthy handful of shredded mozzarella and drop blobs of burrata all over.
- Drizzle with a little olive oil.
- Place the pizza on the stone and cook for 6-8 mins or until the cheese is bubbly and the crust is lightly browned on the bottom.
